CILS4EU-DE-ADIAB

CILS4EU-DE-ADIAB is a cooperation between the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (Mannheimer Zentrum für Europäische Sozialforschung, MZES) in Mannheim and the Institute for Employment Research (Institut für Arbeitsmarkt- und Berufsforschung, IAB) in Nuremberg. It enables data users to combine data from waves 1-3 of CILS4EU and waves 4-9 of the German follow-up CILS4EU-DE with administrative data, i.e., histories of (un)employment. The data are provided by the research data centre of the German Federal Employment Agency at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB FDZ).

For a total of N = 3,594 respondents who consented to the linkage of their CILS4EU(-DE) survey data with the administrative data, integrated employment biographies were available. These data enable researchers to track the employment status of the respondents over time. They are based on information that employers report to the German Federal Employment Agency, covering, e.g., employment status, wage, occupation, working hours, as well as information on the employer.

For a complete list of available variables and a detailed description of the linkage process, please refer to the documentation materials for the CILS4EU-DE-ADIAB data, which are available from the IAB FDZ here.

These data can only be accessed on-site in safe rooms of cooperating research data centers, e.g., in Nuremberg or Mannheim. For more detailed information on data access options, please consult the website of the IAB here. To apply for the data, please follow the steps described in the section "Data Access" here.
